Frequently Asked Questions About Insurance

What Happens if my Driving Licence Expires?

It is important that you are aware of when your driving licence expires (or expired), as it is illegal to drive without a valid licence. Although the DVLA may send renewal reminders prior to the expiry date, it is still your responsibility to ensure that your licence remains up-to-date and valid, this includes obtaining renewal forms if necessary. Driving without a valid driving licence can result in a fine of up to £1000, and between three and six penalty points on your licence. Your car can also be seized and crushed. Your motor insurance policy may become void and result in claims not being paid by your insurance company. Click here for further details.

I need a business continuity plan. What is this?

Business Continuity Planning is the management process that provides a framework to ensure the resilience of your business to any eventuality and the ability to recover from any disruptions. I suspect someone I know of insurance fraud. What can I do?

Insurance fraud is not only a criminal offence, but it vastly increases the insurance costs for the honest customer. The Insurance Fraud Investigators Group and the Insurance Fraud Bureau are active in tackling this problem. Their strategy involves raising the awareness of the issue amongst the public and highlighting the fact that fraudulent activity affects everyone and that they can play a major part in catching those involved in it. Their ‘Cheatline’ number is 0800 328 2550. This can be used to provide free and confidential information about anyone you might suspect of insurance fraud. This can be anything from individuals enhancing the value of items claimed for to organised gangs staging road traffic accidents and overstating injuries and damages claimed.
